The Yoga of Knowledge and Action

The Supreme Lord said: I instructed this imperishable science of yoga to the sun-god Vivasvan, and Vivasvan instructed it to Manu, the father of mankind, and Manu in turn instructed it to Ikshvaku.

Context & Meaning

Krishna reveals that this ancient wisdom was first imparted to the sun-god Vivasvan, passed through a lineage of kings, and has now been renewed for Arjuna.
