Description

The Bhagavad Gita, often referred to simply as the Gita, is a 700-verse Hindu scripture that is part of the epic Mahabharata. It is a dialogue between Prince Arjuna and Lord Krishna, who serves as his charioteer. This sacred text addresses the moral and philosophical dilemmas faced by Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. The Gita presents a synthesis of Hindu ideas about dharma (duty), karma (action), and moksha (liberation). The setting is a battlefield, just before the great Kurukshetra war between the Pandavas and Kauravas. Arjuna is overcome with doubt and despair about fighting his own relatives. Krishna counsels him, teaching him about the nature of the soul, duty, and the paths to spiritual liberation.
